Remainder of the Season Looking Ahead
It is important to look ahead at the rest of the season so you know what is to come. We have a few more meets remaining before the Regional Championships. This will be the final meet for the majority of our swimmers. Our 8&U swimmers will finish up at the Barbara Kay Mini meet which is 2 weeks prior to the Regional Championships.
If your child qualifies on to the Junior Championships, they will continue to prep for this meet. Swimmers who do not qualify for this meet are welcome to continue to attend practice and train through this meet as well.
Once the Junior Championships conclude, we will continue to offer practices on a modified schedule base until we take our Spring break. Between the end of the JC meet and the Spring break, we will hold our Banquet to celebrate the 2024 LCM season as well as the 2024-25 SCY season. This date will be announced as soon as one is selected.
Once we are back from out break, it is on the the LCM season. LCM means "Long Course Meters", this might also be refered to as the "Summer season" by some. The LCM season begins in April and runs all the way through the LCM championships in mid to late July depending on which meet is your childs last. This part of the year is where we really see the most growth within the sport for kids.
We encorage all of our families to consider swimming with us through the LCM season. While summer is filled with summer league, its important to remember that swimming for WAC and for your summer league team does not have to be a one or the other situation. Summer league programs are very used to swimmers training with a club team and participating in summer league meets throughout the season. Often times they encourage it because it allows for their programs to have less kids in the water during their practice which decreases their swimmer to coach ratio, its a win-win!
We will have much more information regarding the LCM season as we get closer to the championship meets. We always hope to have practice schedule and full information out as soon as possible. If you have any questions about summer, please contact Coach Calvin.
That is all for now, have a great rest of your day and we will see you at the pool and in the next newsletter!
