Welcome to the age group newsletter for the season! The facility we train at is commonly referred to as the WAC Shack so this is where the name comes from. Throughout the season there will be many highlights and reminders. The newsletter will serve as a primary source for all this information.

All information in this newsletter will relate to the age group program. If your family has children in both the age group program and the senior program, you will get this newsletter but no high school/senior information will be shared in it. Look toward Coach Jim and Coach Matts emails for your news.

Meet Schedule

Due to the change that GCSTO gave us for two of their hosted meets, we have had some shifts occurring throughout the meets occuring in December. Check those out asap.

Practice Schedule

At this time there is nothing that would cause an adjusted schedule to be operated on. If something comes up that causes us to modify, we will communicate it as soon as possible.

Registration Deadlines

There are no registration deadlines during the month of September, the first registration deadline is October 1st for the Bobcat Spooktacular meet.

Who to Contact?

Sometimes there are situations that come up where you are wondering which coach to contact or you contact a coach and they refer you on to another coach. If you follow these recommendations you should be good to go:

  • Anything billing related or relating to the HS/SR program
    • Coach Jim (youthletics@columbus.rr.com)
  • Day to day operations for your child
    • Your groups lead coach (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
  • Larger situations for your child
    • Coach Calvin with your groups lead coach cc'd
  • General questions relating to the age group program
    • Coach Calvin (higdoncalvin@gmail.com)

Parent Attending Practice Reminders

All practices must remain open and observable. There are a few things you should remember about your role as a parent when it comes to attending a practice.

  • Parents or siblings must not exit out the doors toward the courtyard at Oakstone (this is an off limits area to us as renters)
  • Parents or siblings must not venture south of the northern most corner of the outdoor pool at WJC or further east than directly across from the small slide of the outdoor pool. When stepping outside at WJC we ask that it is either inside the gated entrance area. If you need a visual to understand these boundaries, contact Coach Calvin.
  • Coaches are performing a job when coaching your child. We ask you allow them to do their job and not interrupt unless it is an emergency situation. If it is not, ask to schedule a time to talk with the lead coach outside of practice time.
  • If you are attending a practice, we ask you not to interact with your swimmer during the practice time. If being present at the practice causes a major distraction with your child, we ask that you observe from an area on the deck that will not cause the distraction.
